"Rediscover
your True Passions"
By Erik Carlson
Whenever I
hear someone say "you
can do anything you want
to"; or "you
are in control of your future/destiny/success",
I don't hear that as
an inspirational phrase,
I hear that as a dangerous
phrase.
I think the problem
with telling somebody that 'they
can have all that they desire',
is that sometimes people
get confused as to what their
desires really are. The misdirection
here is that the world may
tell you what success means,
things such as 'riches,
career aspirations, power,
fame, etc', but if
you lose touch w/ your true
purpose or calling, you can
spend your life trying to
attain things that are meaningless.
You may even attain them,
but your will still be unfulfilled
if it goes against what you
were truly meant to do.
O.K.,
now I've opened up
a can of worms that cannot
be discussed fully in a quick
note; but my encouragement
to you this month is to get
back in touch with the deep-down,
gut passions and dreams that
you used to dream about when
you were younger, and maybe
keep flashing before your
mind even today. Ignore the 'get
rich quick' opportunities;
and journal the ones that
lie deep within. You can
categorize them in three
ways:
- A passion for a Role:
(What you like to do)
- A passion for specific
People:
(whom you like to help)
- A passion for
a Cause:(what
you would like to see changed)
I read this morning in Psalm 20:4, “May HE grant you according to your heart’s desire, and fulfill all your purpose.” Since it is the Lord who makes these happen, keep an eternal perspective as you rediscover you heart’s desires. Now it gets fun!
Let's have relentless pursuit
of the Truth, and we will all
live victoriously above the line! |
